Beginners Art

1. My most successful art piece was my artist steal piece. I think this was my most successful piece because I enjoyed making it the most, and was the most inspired. This art piece kept me interested, and helped me create an art piece I really enjoyed! 2. If I could do any project again differently I would change the installation piece. I liked the idea, of our piece but I wish we had known what we wanted the project to end up like throughout. In the beginning we were really uninspired, and had no focus or destination. But I would change a few things. I wish we hadn't painted the colored pencils. It would have been much more fun if it was more colorful. I also would have changed what we used to seal the gravel because it left an annoying milkiness behind. 3. I will compare the installation piece, and the found object piece. On both these art projects I worked in a group with Alyssa and Nicole. These project were similar because of the group work, and because we used a new medium on both. They were different though because we didn't know what we wanted to end up with during the installation piece, but the found art piece, we had a clear image of how we wanted it to turn out. (pictured above, and below) 4. I think an interesting idea would be to create a sketch of something cool, or just create an idea for an art piece. Then take up everyone sketches, and redistribute them. Each persons new sketch will be the inspiration behind their art piece. I think this would be fun because you could see your sketch interpreted in a new and possibly better way, and get to take a random idea and create something entirely different from what you imagined. This shows how artists work together, and take other peoples ideas to inspire thier own unique idea. But it's not artists steal its artists trade.

Togehter me and my group developed an animation, wahich none of us have never done before. using this new technique forced us to think very far ahead, and plan through our entire projec before we did it. This developed my art skills because it taught meto think ahead in my art, and to plan for all the materials and items im going to need.
To create a still life we used pastels to create the image pictured above. I have never used pastels before, and so this was a new medium for me. Throughout the week we used the still life and other activities to learn more about pastels, and how to use them. Using a new medium hellped me develop my art skills.
Answering: I Take Risks
For this project me and my partners, Alyssa and Nikole decided to make an art piece using pencils. This project went through countless stages and ideas. It began so simply as gluing painted nail to wood in a floral pattern. Although after we completed this step it seemed as if there was more to do. All we had was painted pencils on green wood. We went through countless ideas, and began to regret our decisions so far. We consulted Mr. Sands on our distaste with the project outcome, and finally he went into his black hole of a closet, and got out gravel. What are we going to do with gravel? At first we were all hesitant about the gravel, but we decided to try it, contrasting the pink pencils with blue gravel, and the blue pencils with red gravel, filling empty spaces with green gravel. This time we liked what we had made, and we thought we were done. It looked cool and finished. None of us were sure about the gravel, none of us had worked with this material before but we ended up with an outcome we truly liked. It was wonderful, until Mr. Sands asked the question we had been avoiding since the beginning. What are we doing with this? We basically have a cool piece of art, that wasn't anything. After many suggestions from Mr. Sands we decided we would make a table. We all went to Mr. Register and designed a table. We measured and talked about braces, all things we were unfamiliar with but in the end we now have a table ( 32x36 in) in the courtyard of our school. We are proud of what we made and we are finally finished with a project that has continuously tested my partners and my boundaries. For this project I decided to create a Keith Herring inspired street sign. I knew I wanted to incorporate a Keith Herring image, or style of drawing but I didn't know how. Most of his figures were doing exaggerated motions, and I began to think about how in Mr.Sands slideshow someone had done something with a street sign. I decided to combine the two into my own original art piece. I thought it would be fun to incorporate both inspirations into the one piece. I decided on using the NO U TURN sign because I could easily apply a character to the U. I really enjoyed this project. I liked my idea and was able to be creative with a piece that was fun. My piece ended up being really fun to make, and I got to incorporate a Keith Herring doodle, which I had originally thought I wouldn't be able to do, but in the end it worked out.
For this activity I drew a remix of the characters Phineas, from Phineas and Ferb, and Velma from Scooby-Doo. i used my own unique ideas with my art by combining two independent characters to make them one character. I have always loved Scooby-Doo and especially Velma, she 's my favorite character from the show and was always the most clever. When trying to find who to combine her with I thought about who could match her intelligence and use it in a different way. Phineas seemed like the best choice, his match of intelligence and drawing style seemed like a cool mashup. Together I think they make a funny looking character who could come up with the most exciting crime busting summer yet.
For this project I used repetition by creating a stencil of Barbie, and spray painting it multiple times onto my poster board. I learned a new technique by creating my first stencil, and suing spray paint for the first time. I gained a new skill with unfamiliar materials, and it was very exciting! I loved using spray paint to create this art piece. While I was cutting my stencil I thought that this would end up to be an ugly illegible piece, but the spray paint softened by sharp angular edges and i really liked the outcome of my efforts. In the end I really likes the project, the only thing was I very loosely used the theme draw the line and quite honestly i don't really see it's application, but otherwise I liked the freedom of this project.
My theme was all fall down, and I decided to draw a close up eye with a tear. I take Risks Question- I first decided to try a new medium i have never used before, I definitely wasn't sure about the new medium. I decided to use watercolor over pencil, which is something I've never worked with before, while pencil is comfortable for me. Although after working with it I decided to use pencil, so I could get a more detailed picture and show much more contrast.
In class we traced pictures of celebrities faces (mine being Taylor Swift) by outlining the shapes made by differences in light. Once they were traced, we starting shading in the outline we created by forming shadows and highlights on her face. After we finished that process I was left with a value portrait of Taylor Swift.
